LiveStyles Hip Hop Festival
LiveStyles is Irelands largest Hip Hop festival. Taking place over the June bank holiday weekend, it brings Bboys (breakdancers), Graffiti Artists, DJs and Rappers from all over Ireland and the world together.
The weekend festival line up includes a breakdance contest, ‘Sick Steps’, a graffitti jam, ‘Just Writing My Name’ a Youth Showcase and many more gigs, workshops and contests.
On Saturday June 1st Camden Palace Hotel will host a breakdance contest ‘Sick Steps’, a Youth Showcase, Rap performances, live graffiti & a BBQ. These events have international appeal with artists from Ireland, Poland, England, Scotland, South Africa & Nigeria and is being judged by legendary breakdancer “RawB” and competitors like LB & Artis. In an effort to invigorate Corks Hip Hop scene international guests will give workshops throughout the weekend around the corner in Flava Floors Dance Studio on Coburg Lane.
Top international and Irish graffiti artists such as UK based, Ventsa, Deus & Tizer, Drogheda originated TDA Klann & stencil artists from around Europe will all attend ‘Just Writing My Name’.
Event Organiser Ross Herlihy said,“We started LiveStyles as a way to show the people of Cork what real Hip Hop is all about but over the past 3 years its become so much more. Its a real community event that celebrates Hip Hop culture and promotes learning and sharing.”
LiveStyles Fest organisers Ross Herlihy and Adam O’Connor of Rhythm Rebelz Productions have been involved in Corks Hip Hop scene both as graffiti artists and breakdancers for over 10 years. In 2006 they organised the highly successful ‘GC Underground’. Adam is founder of Flava Floors breakdance and hip hop dance studio.
