Feminist Tea Party
Tricia O’Connor, a Tralee-based artist, is bringing the third in her series of Travelling Feminist Tea Parties to Camden Palace on Saturday, the 10th of August from 5-7 pm.
Tricia is currently completing her MA in Social Practice and Creative Environment in MASPACE in Limerick. The methodologies surrounding the Travelling Feminist Tea Party involves inviting certain participants to a location, whether in a domestic setting, artist’s studio or a public place.
Tricia will present a Feminist Manifesto to those attending the tea party. with a discussion to follow amongst the participants about Feminism, lived experience surrounding Feminism and the roles women play in society. Each discussion will be documented by transferring conversations onto the teacups and plates, to be used and discussed at the next Tea Party.
Through the Travelling Feminist Tea Party, Tricia is creating a teacup archive of women’s lived experience and views on Feminism. Tricia says, “Lived experience and opinions change depending on social backgrounds, education and place”. Documenting various dialogues from different social settings through the tea cups enables Tricia as a socially engaged artist to create a Feminist history through creative means.
