Mission Statement

AIMS:

Camden Palace Hotel offers space and opportunities for artists and performers to participate in a dynamic working experience on a scale which has not been seen in Cork City to date. Part studio and rehearsal space, part collective project, Camden Palace Hotel provides facilities, and support for artists who are willing to take up the challenge and responsibilities that come with joining in this exciting new project.

This initiative is open to participation to artists working in all disciplines, and includes a strong emphasis on involvement in the community. Everyone working in Camden Palace Hotel will be involved at some level with maintenance of the enterprise and arts in the community.

In fields as diverse as Painting, Drama, Dance, Film-making, Music, Circus and Photography, Camden Palace Hotel encourages and facilitates creative experimentation, idea sharing and collaboration. Significant, mutually beneficial interaction between artists, the business community and members of the public that may generally not get involved in making or viewing art, is an integral element of the ethos of Camden Palace Hotel.

MEANS:

1. By offering studio space, help and facilities to Artists within a prime location in Cork City Centre.

2. By facilitating idea sharing, creative experimentation and learning amongst artists from a broad range of disciplines.

3. By encouraging creative partnerships and collaboration between artists, individuals, businesses, community groups and public bodies.

4. By establishing a ‘Community Artists Network’ which will provide support, opportunities and resources for community groups and artists working within community, social and health contexts.

5. By promoting social inclusion and diversity through actively encouraging access and participation to members of the community who may not otherwise visit art venues or get involved in making art.
